IANJ Annual Meeting and Educational Sessions

Join us Wednesday, December 5th for the IANJ Annual Meeting Event at the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ (in conjunction with the NJ Turfgrass & Landscape Conference).

Members are encouraged to attend this yearly event that combines association business, educational opportunities and a networking social event!  Earn valuable CECs in water conservation toward your license renewal by attending the workshop sessions during the day. Enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a buffet dinner during the evening reception and business meeting, where you’ll hear an update on the activities of the IANJ including a report from DCA Representatives, our legislative initiatives, and presentation of the IANJ Lifetime Achievement Award. Members will also vote on new trustees.

Description: New technology is transforming the irrigation industry. However, one of the most effective and cost-effective ways to save water in the landscape is to know how to schedule properly. There are many formulas and background science associated with scheduling, but new software and the advances in weather-based scheduling have made the process much easier. This class will show the science behind scheduling irrigation, but will also show the student how to utilize the tools that have been developed to make irrigation scheduling a quick and easy process.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR 

Ted Moriarty CIC, CID, CLIA has worked in the irrigation industry for 28 years. He has worked in distribution and for two major manufacturers of irrigation equipment. Currently, Ted is the owner of Smart Watering Company, an irrigation consulting business whose services include design, irrigation system audits and assessments, developing water management programs, installation, and maintenance. Ted has been an IA instructor since 1997, and is a Past President of the Irrigation Association of New England.

Description: This class explores the various green building programs and codes which are becoming increasingly prevalent, and are having a direct impact on landscape irrigation. Topics include the background and development of these codes and programs, what is presently out there, what the future may hold and a close look at what the impact will be on our business. Strategies to comply with green codes and how to advocate for a fair impact on our industry will also be discussed.
